R/mensrights is a subreddit ostensibly created to promote the message of the men’s movement to a larger public readership. To that end they have been quite successful, with over 40,000 subscribers. In fact, their growth has been so substantial that it creates both the room and the need for similar efforts on reddit, but that do not follow the precise model of that sub. We need a subreddit that is more activism oriented as opposed to the more informational nature of r/mensrights.
So today, I have created that subreddit, r/mensrightsactivists, and have placed an introductory post on it. Here is the post:
It has become apparent that will all the new activity and growth in the men’s movement that a new subreddit, one that focuses a great deal on activism – and that is largely free from feminist and white knight derailing, is called for.
Thus r/mensrightsactivists was born.
It is the intention that this sub will, over a period of time, attract and inspire activists and educate those interested in learning about men’s activism. And while it will not serve as an actual hub for activism, it will bring news of both progress and setbacks in the struggle to combat cultural misandry.
This will be a slow process, but the focus will be on quality rather than quantity. While dissenters and the blue pill public will be welcome to post links and comment, trolls and other annoyances will be summarily booted with pleasure. This is an MRA dominated zone.
A couple of things to consider: Dissent, especially that which serves to further the improvement of the men’s movement, is welcome and appreciated. But if you want to post here, as a supposed MRA, telling others what is wrong with their work, you better have some MRA credentials.
Inactive, armchair quarterbacks, are not allowed here, unless their posts reflect genuine concern for improving and supporting the MRM and respect for those doing actual work. If you want to ask questions so that you can learn, that is fine. But if you want to question, just so you can tear down, and you are not an MRA, then it will be adios for you. I’d sooner give a feminist the floor than a back seat driver.
That being said, to MRA’s and others I say welcome. Feel free to post articles that support the goals of the MRM and that educate the public about issues faced by men and boys.
As I said in the announcement, this will be a slow process. At first it will remain very slow. As it gains momentum, we will acquire the same headaches of all other reddits, including attacks and the like from places like SRS and other hate camps. We will be prepared for it. For right now though, I would appreciate supporters of AVfM come sub to r/mensrightsactivists in support of our new effort. Let’s work together to make reddit a place that works for the men’s movement. Thanks, PE
