SWEDEN, STOCKHOLM. The total number of Feminist Initiative’s (F!) party members and supporters is increasing tremendously, claims the Swedish media and F!’s press bureau. And that seems to be true. If one follows this link, one can for instance notice that F! just just recently got an injection of over 10,000 likes on its Facebook page from Turkey between June 16 and June 19. These 10,000 likes now represent roughly 10% of the party’s total number of fans on Facebook, which now is around 102,000.
To put the number into perspective, the Social-Democratic Party, which won the latest European elections in Sweden, barely has over 72,000 likes in total.
Has the Feminist Initiative been driving a successful PR campaign in Turkey and thereby made 10,000 Turks suddenly be interested in Swedish radical feminism? Most likely no. Speculations around the Swedish social media circles points to the FI as having bought Facebook hits from pages like this one in order to appear larger and more popular than they actually are.
The deceit became more clear when a person from a company that calls itself “viral marketing” in connection with the newsleak quickly wrote this in a comment on Fi’s Facebook Page.
It appears that F! has bought fans not only from Turkey but also from Sweden. From a company that apparently make a living by violating Facebook’s rules.
The comment quickly disappeared from F!’s Facebook.
We remind readers that FI is a political party in Sweden led by the former leader of the Leftist Party, Gudryn Schyman, that advocates, among other things, for bringing re-education camps for men, mandatory vegan meals, and abolition of private education. This party has won a seat in the European Parliament in the last euro-elections.
