A Voice for Men opens its first office in Asia today, July 28, 2014,
A Voice for Men was founded in 2009 by Paul Elam. Elam, who previously worked in the mental health field in the U.S., opened the online magazine when he became increasingly concerned about the treatment of men and boys, both within the psychiatric health services and the culture at large.
The publication has been a success in the U.S. and the world at large, and now ranks with its millions of readers as one of the 32 000 largest web pages in the world and among the 12,000 largest in the United States.
A Voice for Men (often called AVfM) is a part of the men’s rights movement (MRM), or as it is often called in English the “Mens Human Rights movement” ( MHRM ). The MRM is a grassroots movement that first appeared in the 1920s in protest against the so-called maintenance of slavery in the United States and is now rapidly growing in all parts of the world. This is in response to the increasing injustice and abuse that occurs primarily against men and boys in our communities.
AVfM is for absolute equality of treatment and under the law between men and women, and is highly critical of both the feminist and the traditionalist view of men and women, male and female, and especially the contempt that characterizes the perception of men and men’s rights in the world today.
AVfM takes an absolute stance against violence, racism and sexism. We are a peaceful movement working for human rights and a greater empathy for the men and boys in our society.
Besides Paul Elam, the esteemed author Warren Farrell, Erin Pizzey the founder of the domestic violence shelter network, esteemed academician Miles Groth and many other important figures in the international academia and media are contributing to A Voice for Men.
The team in charge of AVFM Farsi headed by Ali Mehraspand, while focused primarily on Iran, will cover news and events from allover the Farsi-speaking world.
