The exchange with RME over the proposed debate was even more bizarre than I could have anticipated. First, after obviously reading the initial challenge, he responded with this:
“I know that Bernard Chapin has already said that he would participate in a debate in an unbiased setting. I will second that, and clarify that an unbiased setting would be a channel that isn’t run by AVfM or any affiliates with that website. It would also include a moderator that isn’t affiliated with AVfM.
You can make it a one-to-one debate with me, or one where myself and Bernard debate you and one other person. But what I won’t have is the setting you’re planning, where it looks as though Bernard and I are outnumbering you, when in reality the moderator is a handpicked AVfM supporter like Victor.”
To this I replied the following:
The moderators role is simply to enforce time allotments and to ensure that no one is allowed to interrupt on another’s time. But very well, I understand your fears.
The best way to do this, then, in my book, is to simply produce videos and exchange arguments from our own channels. No moderator needed in that case, no worries about bias or censoring.
All you need to do is be able and willing to confine your arguments to the pre determined time constraints.
To this, again, after he had clearly read the initial challenge, which included the proposed topic, he responded:
Ok, then before we discuss other details, what is the topic you wish to address?
I have to admit I was proud of myself for not just blowing him off completely at that moment. I responded, although in an admittedly snarky way:
Exactly as I already stated in the challenge.I sent you. The same one where you got all those specifics you would not agree to.
And MRE responds again, several hours later, taking things into the twilight zone of MHRM discussions:
So the topic is “Is Men’s Rights a Left-Right Issue?” – okay.
Alright, he seems to be catching up to the learning curve! But then:
Since I’ve already had to deal with trolls attacking me from AVfM before the “challenge” has even started, who don’t even understand the difference between a collectivist and individualist, and don’t understand that calling yourself right-wing or conservative doesn’t make you an individualist, why exactly is it in my favour to expose myself to people that don’t understand basic philosophy?
I doubt I’ll even gain many subs from this, since AVfM no longer has an individualist minded audience. This seems to be something that benefits you, not me, because you can reinforce your own beliefs among your audience, and get them to troll my channel, as I’ve grown accustomed to from certain groups. I doubt that you’d even agree with the premises above regarding collectivism and individualism, so that alone shows that we will quickly be talking over one another.
OK, so let’s take a look at how RME chose to weasel out of this thing. RME is telling us that he does not understand the benefit of asserting his ideas, from his own YouTube channel, because the AVFM audience does not understand “basic philosophy.” Further, he goes on to say, that I get the benefit of reinforcing beliefs of my own audience posting from my own channel, while he does not gain from doing the same from his. And, that somehow I am doing this to get AVFM readers to troll his channel.
Then the dumbfuck (sorry, but that is necessary) expresses concern that because I don’t agree with his premise, that we are going to “talk over each other,” broadcasting separate response videos, each from our own respective channels.
How is that even possible? Never mind, it was a rhetorical question.
My first idea was that he is on drugs or drunk. I dismissed that in favor of fear and stupid. This is the lamest, and I mean lamest bit of intellectual dishonesty I have seen so far from someone claiming to be a men’s activist. But take heart, the night is young. Chapin is similarly gaming his answers. He has not come up with anything quite this stupid yet, but he is definitely working on it.
Looks like this debate is just turning into a contest over which one of these tradcons can run away the fastest. RME is in first, with Chapin nipping at his heels. More to come.
