For some time now, both Bernard Chapin and the “Rocking” Mr. E have dedicated a good bit of their men’s “advocacy” to attacks on AVFM. While a lot of their opinions challenge my ability to infer an actual point, a central theme that consistently appears in their rhetoric is that the men’s movement must be framed in terms of a left vs right political struggle.
Indeed, most of the attacks on AVFM are focused on that issue alone, with them both taking the unwavering stand that men’s rights issues are literally defined by their being viewed in the left-right paradigm: Problem on the left; solution on the right.
While there is certainly room for a healthy debate on this issue, there has been so much adhom and personal invective from these two that cogent points to their favor have been lost, if they ever existed in the first place.
I propose to remedy that.
I hereby issue a challenge to Bernard Chapin and the “Rocking” Mr. E to a live, moderated public debate on the question “Is men’s rights a left-right issue?” in a Google Hangout to be hosted by AVFM.
Both Chapin and Mr. E will take the affirmative position, and I will take the negative. Equal time standards will apply for all. This means that for every minute I have the floor, both Chapin and Mr. E will each have a minute in response to mine. Effectively, I will be debating against both of them at once, which I trust will give them more than fair opportunity to make their points. The debate will be moderated by AVFM Radio News and Activism anchor James Huff.
It will also give them the grand privilege of seeing their ideas put to intellectual scrutiny (as will mine) in a live public forum.
I anxiously look forward to their response, and their willingness to avail themselves to the time honored area of vetting differing ideas through public debate. Those with ideas that have value have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this kind of exchange.
Gents, the gauntlet has been thrown down. I am calling you to the town square, two against one, with my promise of no whining about the arrangement I called for. If you choose to use your time with personal attacks, so be it. I will use my time to obliterate your contentions.
Time to put up, or, well, you know……
