Like the flu sweeping through a densely packed workplace during the height of the season, the feminist narrative, warts and all, has a way of spreading through all our established institutions. Sports commentary is no exception. It seems wherever you have men, you have white knights. And man, are they ever full of it.
Obviously, without being told, you might just rape somebody by accident. Because that’s what men are like, right? Shit, without a constant reminder, that’s what you are like. Maybe you should tattoo a reminder not to rape on your hand… you know, just in case. Right? But saying that men rape that men need constant reminders not to rape, all of this isn’t demonizing, not in the slightest. Right?
It also calls into question whether the concept of “consent,” where it relates to sexual activity, is antiquated. Indeed it calls into question whether the concept of “rape,” in the literal definition, is just a cultural misconception for a male tendency to fulfill women’s desire for sexual excitement and thrills and women’s collective desire to see this accomplished.
I stumbled upon the men’s rights movement and saw things—statistics, studies—they pulled up from the depths of our society’s subconscious—things that would silently slip down into the deep if it weren’t for them.
