A loss in our family

It is with great regret that I have to announce the death of AVFM Senior Editor Suzanne McCarley’s husband, Mac. He passed away just moments ago after a very short battle with pancreatic cancer. Please join us in offering Suzanne our support and comfort at this very hard time in her life. AVFM will be suspending operations till Tuesday morning out of respect for the McCarley Family.

11 more reasons not to marry

Dr. Helen Smith offered a no-nonsense straight-on logical piece here on AVfM recently giving 8 very concrete reasons why men should not marry in today’s climate. August Løvenskiolds offers up his own somewhat more subjective, vastly more snarky list of reasons why it’s women who should be on bended knees begging, not the other way around.

Patriarchy debunked by NSW Govt.

What may appear on the surface to be a small but positive news story for the MHRM is actually something of massive proportions, especially if followed up on properly. The New South Wales[NSW] government has decided to recognize male victims of domestic violence and offer them services one reserved for women only.

Superiority in the name of equality

It is accepted wisdom that women are and always have been oppressed. Indeed, this belief is so common it doesn’t even qualify as “feminist” anymore. Jim Muldoon suspects he might enjoy being oppressed. We think we might like being oppressed too; it looks like a pretty good gig. [Illustration by Europa Phoenix]

NCFM on McCain questions for DOJ

Senator John McCain is apparently doing his job as a public servant and is confronting the Department of Justice and the Department of Education about a policy clearly intended to rob young college men of due process of law, if they happen to offend someone by saying the wrong thing. AVfM is strictly nonpartisan, but when a politician gets something right we take note of it. So does NCFM.

Summer 2013 Donation Drive

It is that time of year again, folks. A Voice for Men is calling on all readers, activists and other supporters to help us take this website, and this movement, a little further in the right direction. We have ambitious goals this time, as always, but we know with your help we will reach them and go beyond, in service to the cause of serving men and boys.
